http://www.thekooks.com/
The Kooks website differs greatly from The Killers in that it more conventional. It doesn't uses panoramic type of screen, instead it has individual pages for each part of the site.
They have used Image in a very promotional way. The main image that greets someone viewing the site is that of their latest album cover. This is effective for advertising and for creating interest. Image stat are included on the front page of the site are that of the latest album cover and pictures of the band with emphasis being on the leads face as he is the member of the band all the fans know. Image wise, the website is fairly empty. They have a section for images therefore they have used space for updates from their twitter and Facebook Feed.
Layout of the website is particular key. The main focus is on their latest album but then attention is drawn to the blog and Twitter/Facebook feed. This is key for revealing information about the band which keeps audiences interested. Ic an see that this is important as fans like it when bands reveal information. Therefore I can see that an up to date social network could be valuable to advertisement and interest. The front pages layout therefore is predominantly taken up by large images of the band and things relevant to the band. Ic an see that this website takes advertisement seriously.
Following the from page, which is the most complicated of the website, the rest of the site is fairly devoid of information. Instead it consists mainly of images and news about the band. The only thing not visible on the front page is a list of tour dates, again effective for providing information and advertisement.
The colour scheme of the site is plain and simple but one that I think works effectively. They have used a white background with black writing on the top which allows information and other important features to stand out easily and to be eye catching. This also emphasises and in my opinion compliments the colours on the new album cover which are reds and whites. Therefore it is effective in creating an eye catching website. This again adds to the idea they are focused on advertisement.
The font is the same throughout on the site and is one which is easy to read and mirrors their easy going, slightly softer music taste. The font they have used is easy on the eyes and readable. This is something I view as being important to a bands success. Information must hold clarity and be easy to read.
