I really like how this album cover fits the name of the album 'puzzle', I really like the effect used to make it look like he is made of puzzle pieces, the colour scheme works really well to.
I don't think that the CD cover really suits the style of music but as a CD cover on its own I think it’s really well done and it doesn't look fake. It’s also very memorable and I would say that it is an original idea.
The image is quite striking as it is actually the lead singer of Biffy Clyro Simon Neil sitting naked on a stool, having a more controversial image on the cover would make people stop and look, making potential buyers seem more interested.
The image is also made of a foreground and a background, the splits the image; it looks like the other two members are coming in from a door from behind Simon, giving the image more layers.
The layout of the image is quite unconventional, as the man on the stool is slightly off centre because he needs to leave room for the other members of the band coming in from the left hand corner. The puzzle piece that is coming out the man on the stool has the most light and is the most prominent object in the foreground.
The shot used in the album cover is a long shot as it has all the band members in and you can see their feet as well so it isn’t a mid shot. This shot works because the foreground colour extends to the background, because you can see each of the band members.
The shot allows you to see most of the room ,pretty much setting the scene for the entire cover.
I think this album cover works really well , the reverence of the image on the front cover works really well, though its quite a surreal cover I think it gets the point across.
