This mock up was based on a lot of adverts I was seeing in NME based on the album cover of the album they are advertising. I chose this album cover because it is the one that I feel is the best of the mock ups I have created thus far.
Image wise, it is also suitable due to the large amount of black at the bottom which is useful for extending and then writing information on. Just like I have done as above. I feel the image and the advert would target our target audience successfully as it is powerful but due to the silhouette technique, also fairly negative. This reflexes the nature of our chosen genre.
However there are parts which I feel could either be replaced or be improved, to make a better and more substantial piece of work. for example I feel the spacing of 'The Almost Fall' could be better and that I could also change where I have put the 'The New Album" writing. I feel it could be moved down a little to remove excessive space between it and the 'Out Now' information. At the same time the general photoshopping could be better, however I still think it has worked effectively as a mock up as it has shown me how things could due improved.
I chose the green font for the pieces of information because I checked a colour wheel and saw that red and green matched. I took the green directly of the wheel and I feel it looks good directly against the background and that it is almost luminescent in nature and therefore advertises well. I feel that this will be something I keep for my final product but that perhaps I might make the red text a little darker to really create a negative feel.
This advert lost some of the simplistic nature I had been hoping to create but I feel that it works well and therefore this loss can't be lamented to much as I feel that it still works. I feel that finding the glance between effective layout and cluttering the advert will be the hardest thing and therefore on my final product I should ensure that I have carefully thought throughout layout, spacing and alignment.
