This is the foo fighter’s official homepage; it has a slide show like section on the main page that displays relevant images. The images mainly advertise the bands recent releases of the new album 'wasting light', but there are also advertisements for the Foo fighter’s documentary.
I think the images used on the web page allow the reader to see in-depth information about the band, as Foo fighters is such a big band I think that it is important to show lots of in depth pictures so the fans can appreciate all the work Foo Fighters are doing to provide them with new music and news about band updates.
The layout of the Foo fighters website is quite informal, normally websites have all there hyperlinks on the left hand side but the foo fighter website has them positioned on the top of the page and the bottom of the page.
The website makes full use of the space it it given as the website uses high-resolution pictures in the middle of the page that stretch to either side of the page.
The layout of this website is very widely spaced, there are a lot of blank spaces in between the small amounts of text on the page, though it stills works because the image is the main interest of the page, especially when in changes every 6 seconds.
The top of the page features a really cool effect when you scroll over the text, it spins round when you scroll over it, I think small details like this really makes the website look really professional and also makes them fun to use.
The main colour scheme on the website is gold and black, this is because its the colours of the Foo fighters logo, though the colours do change on the website when the next image comes on in the slide show because they are different colours, though the website has been designed so each image fits in with the normal colour scheme.
The shots used in this website vary from closeups and mid-shots, the mid-shots are used for the pictures of the whole band, this is because it allows you to see a clear picture of the band instead of using a closeup, a closeup isn't used for the pictures of the band because as a band each band member usually gets the same amount of screen time (except Dave Grohl, but he promotes himself outside of the band to).
The closeup is used for the zoomed in shot of the guitar, this image is used for the Foo fighter’s documentary advert 'Back and forth'.
As I am finding more and more the font on this website is quite simple, I have found that with most band adverts, covers and websites that the font is simple and plain, I think this is done to make reading the writing easier, and with bold block capital fonts you can remember what they say for longer, because you only have to remember the writing and not an intricate font.
I think that this band website is very effective overall, the large pictures on a slideshow like presentation allows the viewer to maintain interest because there is an alternative picture every 6 seconds. I also like the simplicity of the colour scheme and the simple font; i find its easier t read that if the website and really brought colours like yellow and green
