Magazine Advert Mock Ups

I created this mock up to represent the slight bless rock side and the slightly more indie side of The Almost Fallen. Inspiration came from a magazine advert for New Found Glory in NME, which included them and their latest album in the same image. I therefore had to choose which of my mock CD covers to use. I settle on this one because I was trying to create something with a bit more of an Indie nature to it. Hence why I went for what I felt was the slightly softer of my album covers. The image of The Kooks would not be a hard to one to recreate, however there would be one less member in the photograph. However there are definitely things I would not keep the same f I were use this. Firstly, the image would include band members feet so that it did not look like they were hovering. Secondly I would have a darker background, the white works as an image but for an advert I don't feel it works well.

There are points I particularly like about this mock up and one of these is the use of the Green font. I feel that this works particularly well with the current white background and that its compliments the black of the band members top. Whilst it also stands out and makes obvious useful information. Copying the New Found Glory advert again I included information on the album in the advert, in attempt to make it look less like a poster and more like a magazine advertisement. I like the use of Bold and normal fonts, which will be something I use on my final product and like the differing fonts between the the band's name and the information on the advert.

Overall I feel it has worked well but I think a number of tweaks could produce a much more effective advertisement. Again the simplicity is something I am keen on and I feel this is possibly the most simplistic of all my mock ups. I feel this is emphasised by the use of the white background. I feel this was successful in creating a more indie advert to target a different side of our target audience.

This was a second copy I created just to see what a black background would do to the overall image. I think it works well. Especially with the tweaks of colour and black and white. I think these changes have created to some extent a successful advertisement.
